Chelsea Trying To Talk PSG Down From €15m Asking Price For Edinson Cavani

Chelsea are reportedly in a “stand off” with Paris Saint-Germain for veteran forward, Edinson Cavani.

Frank Lampard has been looking to add more firepower to his attacking lineup and that intent only grew higher when Tammy Abraham limped off the pitch in the 2-2 Arsenal draw.

Cavani is currently in the market for sale since his contract is set to run out in the summer. PSG wants to cash in on the 32-year-old quick and prevent losing him for nothing in July. The Blues are trying to woo Cavani like a lot of other European outfits. Atletico Madrid are thought to be heavily invested in a deal and so are Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

PSG initially demanded a fee in the region of €30m for the striker but then very quickly realized, no side is willing to meet their demands. Instead, they can allow Cavani to leave on loan while charging a hefty loan fee. Chelsea are more than happy to cover the forward’s £360,000-per-week wages.

The Telegraph is now claiming that PSG are demanding an outright fee of €15m. The Blues are struggling to convince them with a lower offer as the players father is convinced of a January departure.

“He wants to join another club in Europe. That would please me that he plays here [at Atletico], yes,” Luis Cavani told El Chiringuito. “[Diego] Simeone wants him now [in January]. The head coach of Paris Saint-Germain [Thomas Tuchel] has also said he needs him to help compete in the Champions League. But PSG do not want him to go to Atletico Madrid if he finds an agreement.

“I think there is a strong chance he will go to Atletico, the option to join the club always remains in June. There are lots of other clubs but when you give your word to a team, you respect it. If tomorrow, he if is available and Atletico still want him, I think he will sign.”
