Ben Chilwell will be out for three months with hamstring injury.

The England international pulled his hamstring on his left foot in Chelsea’s 2-1 over Dinamo Zagreb.

He underwent a scan on Friday and the injury was worse than feared, with the Chelsea defender set to miss the World Cup later this month.

Luke Shaw is now the only natural choice left-back for Gareth Southgate and will have to find a back-up option in a few days.

‘Following the injury sustained in our recent game against Dinamo Zagreb, Ben has undergone a scan on his hamstring,’ read a statement from Chelsea’s website.

‘Results show that Ben has suffered a significant injury and the defender is unfortunately expected to miss the World Cup.

‘Ben will now begin a rehabilitation programme with the club’s medical department.’

The 25-year-old missed majority of the prior season with an ACL injury and worked tirelessly to get back his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

‘Following my ACL injury I worked so hard to make sure I was ready for the World Cup,’ wrote the defender on Instagram.

‘It has always been a dream of mine. Unfortunately, this won’t be possible following my scan results.

‘It’s very difficult to take at the moment but I believe everything happens for a reason.

‘I will do all I can to get back playing for Chelsea as soon as possible. Thank you for the messages of support.’

Ben Chilwell could miss the World Cup in Qatar.

The left-back pulled his hamstring in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb on his left thigh after making a sprint.

He has around three weeks to recover in time to travel to the World Cup.

Graham Potter said he will be sent for a scan on Friday and couldn’t put any timeframe on his return.

“He’s going for a scan later this afternoon so we’ll find out how he is then, and there will be an update tomorrow,” Potter said at a press conference on Friday.

“He feels okay, but obviously aware of the injury. We need to let the swelling settle down, hence the delay with the scan. We’ll know after that.

“I wouldn’t say we fear the worst, but we all saw the nature of the injury. I can’t say it looks positive, but until we get the scan, it’s difficult to say.

“He’s ok and at the moment we’re hopeful until we get the diagnosis. From there we will aim to get him back fit or strong, but it’s disappointing of course.”

Chelsea opted to name a strong side against Dinamo on Wednesday and it caused extra injuries.

Chelsea are going to suffer injury blows in the crucial encounter against the table-toppers, Arsenal. Graham Potter gave an injury update on Ben Chilwell, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Denis Zakaria ahead of the Premier League clash on Sunday.

Despite having already topped their Champions League group, Chelsea opted to name a relatively strong side against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

That ended up having consequences, as Ben Chilwell and Denis Zakaria seemingly went off with injuries. After the game, Chelsea boss Graham Potter revealed that it was likely bad news for Chilwell, but not for Zakaria.

“Obviously, when [Chilwell] pulls up like that it’s a concern,” Potter admitted. “Obviously, we need to scan it but it’s not positive at the moment.

“To see him pull up like that, it’s not a great sight. So fingers crossed when we get it scanned it isn’t too bad. It can be not as severe but we have to cross our fingers at the moment.

“[Zakaria] just got a kick. Just the contact. He was fine. No problems with him.”

The other piece of injury news related to one of Wednesday’s absentees, Kepa Arrizabalaga. Potter ruled the goalkeeper out of the Arsenal clash on Sunday.

“He won’t be okay for Sunday,” Potter confirmed. “It’s only precautionary in terms of keeping the weight off it, the bottom of his foot. He is progressing well.”

Wesley Fofana, Reece James, and N’Golo Kante are also set to miss the Arsenal clash.

But, Mateo Kovacic should be available again, as he was only absent against Dinamo Zagreb as a precaution.

Chelsea’s move for RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku is now a formality

Chelsea’s move for RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku is now a formality

Nkunku traveled to Frankfurt in September to undergo an initial medical ahead of a future move.

Chelsea is now clear of their move for RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku. The Blues really want to pick this player in Graham Potter’s setup. Nkunku is a player Graham Potter would ‘love’ at Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Robin Bairner.

Chelsea splashed more than £250 million on new signings during the summer transfer window but further investment may not be far away.

According to The Athletic, the 24-year-old is set to make the move to Chelsea at the end of the season after putting pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement.

The report goes on to add that Chelsea, led by chairman and co-owner Todd Boehly, are willing to pay above Leipzig’s £53 million release clause.

It was added that the France international traveled to Frankfurt in September to undergo an initial medical ahead of a future move.

Chelsea could be set for another boost too as journalist Simon Phillips has previously told GiveMeSport that Nkunku’s teammate, center-back Josko Gvardiol, would be ‘open’ to joining the West London club as well.

Bairner believes that a move for the Frenchman is as good as done with the club preparing to welcome their new recruit next summer.

The journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “I think with Nkunku, it seems to be there’s so much noise about it, it just seems to be a formality, I think. There have been so many reliable sources all agreeing on the same line, it seems Nkunku to Chelsea will happen. It’s a great move from Chelsea. Nkunku is the sort of player that Graham Potter will love, with his versatility.

“We’ve obviously seen him at Leipzig play effectively as a centre forward. But before then he’s played as an attacking midfielder, on the wing, slightly deeper in midfield if required. I think Graham Potter will absolutely love what he will bring to the team.”

Chelsea had a decent start to season 2022/23. They have won six games and lost three in 12 matches so far. Meanwhile, Nkunku netted 13 goals this term, taking his total tally for Leipzig to 60 goals in 155 games.

Ben Chilwell’s World Cup is in doubt at the moment.

The Chelsea left-back pulled up with a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter confirmed it was a hamstring injury and could be sidelined for the World Cup.

Potter was asked whether the injury is a concern for the World Cup.

He said:”I think you’d have to say so.

“Obviously I don’t want to say any more than that but when a player pulls up like he did, and he felt it, it’s never positive.”

Even his teammate Mason Mount was concerned for his England compatriot.

He said: “We don’t know how bad it is but that was tough to watch.

“We saw his reaction and that never looks good. As soon as you feel something and to not even think about the ball, it’s tough.

“We know what’s coming up, hopefully it’s not too bad and he can be back as soon as possible because we need him as well,” Mount told Chelsea’s website.

Denis Zakaria has been praised for his debut performance last night.

The Swiss midfielder started his first game for Chelsea last night against Dinamo Zagreb and scored the winning goal.

Thomas Tuchel signed the midfielder just a week before on the deadline day before getting sacked.

He has struggled for game time under the new manager but put a brilliant display last night.

‘I thought he was excellent, I thought he got round the pitch, he was the one your eyes went to because it was his first game,’ Joe Cole said.

‘I think he was the perfect partner for Jorginho. While Jorginho provided a bit of experience in there next to him, he was getting around putting his foot in and to get a goal would have been a bonus.’

Even Glen Hoddle praised the midfielder for his contribution last night.

‘I liked his character and his demeanour on the pitch, it was his first game for Chelsea and he looked as if he felt at home,’ he said. ‘He walked down the tunnel and went to all the players and I looked at Rio [Ferdinand] and said “was that for show or was that for real?” and the way he was on the pitch that was for real. He was making himself feel “I’ve arrived and I’m here to stay”.’

Borussia Dortmund will demand a fee of around €150m to let go of Bellingham.

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly contacts the father of Jude Bellingham to gain transfer advantage.

According to multiple reports (h/t Metro), Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has made contact with the father and agent of Jude Bellingham to steal a march ahead of the potential transfer.

Bellingham has been linked with a host of clubs in Europe, including Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and European champions Real Madrid.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Borussia Dortmund will demand a fee of around €150m to let go of the Englishman. As per German outlet Bild (h/t Metro), the Blues are one of the four serious contenders along with the three mentioned above to sign him.

Bellingham has been one of the hot properties in Europe in the last 12 to 18 months. Since his move from Birmingham City to Dortmund in 2020, the 19-year-old has become one of the best young players in the world. He is already in conversation to be the best young midfielder in the world.

Chelsea could do with a midfield signing with a younger age profile without compromising on quality. The future of N’Golo Kante (31) and Jorginho (30) is uncertain as their contracts are up in June. The other two key central midfielders Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are 28 and 26 respectively.

It is good to see Boehly doing his best to gain any sort of advantage in this transfer race.

England manager faces a nervous wait to discover the extent of Chilwell’s layoff.

Ben Chilwell is the latest name who might be unseen in FIFA World Cup. It’s World Cup month and all teams will soon head to Qatar for the mega event.

Ben Chilwell limped out of Chelsea’s Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday night.

The full-back has battled through injury over the past 18 months in order to get himself fit for both club and country. He had been slowly finding form for Chelsea ahead of the tournament in Qatar.

Chilwell was pictured walking gingerly across the pitch to leave the stadium with the aid of crutches.

Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria had scored on his debut as his side topped the group and ended the European campaign for the Croatians.

Chelsea had secured group victory with a game to spare, finishing on 13 points. They are three ahead of runners-up AC Milan, who beat Red Bull Salzburg 4-0. Dinamo finished bottom on four points.

But Chilwell’s injury overshadowed the end of the game and England manager Gareth Southgate faces a nervous wait to discover the extent of the left-back’s layoff.

Borussia Dortmund are aware that it will be difficult to keep Bellingham for another year

According to reports in Germany, Borussia Dortmund will demand €150 million from those clubs who are interested in their midfielder Jude Bellingham next summer.

The 19-year-old is expected to be one of the most in-demand midfielders at the end of the season following his impressive performances for Dortmund this season.

Bellingham is believed to be one of Chelsea’s top targets with Graham Potter keen to strengthen his midfield options after a decent start to the campaign.

However, Chelsea faces stiff competition as Liverpool and Manchester City are also in the running, while Real Madrid have registered their interest. Real Madrid are ahead in the race.

Speaking about his future last week, Bellingham said: ‘In all honesty I’m not thinking about anything like that [the transfer rumours].
