Chelsea could reportedly miss out on one of their top transfer targets next year.

Despite the fact that Chelsea cannot make any signings until the end of the season, after a transfer ban, Frank Lampard already has possible candidates in mind to help the Blues.

Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj has been on the Chelsea shopping list for the last 18 months without any success. Having impressed at full-back since linking up with the Serie A outfit in 2015, Hysaj has attracted frequent interest from the Premier League, including from Macnhester Unitedand Tottenham Hotspur.

The English sides would be willing to strengthen at right-back in one of the upcoming transfer windows, potentially leaving Hysaj as a natural target.

However, it is Chelsea who are expected to line up a move for the Albanian international when their two-window transfer ban comes to an end, or if their appeal against it is successful.

Moreover, according to The Express, Napoli are ready to offer fresh terms to the Albania international, who has made 169 appearances during his time in Naples. The 25-year-old must now decide where he wants to spend the next stage of his career having been in Italy since 2009, when he linked up with Empoli’s youth setup.

Lampard still sees Cesar Azpilicueta as his first-choice right back and he also has 19-year-old Reece James pushing for a first-team spot following his return from injury.
