Chelsea missed out on signing players like Aleksandar Mitrovic and James Ward-Prowse.

The Blues have spent over £250m in the summer window on players like Moises Caicedo, Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Romeo Lavia, Roberto Sanchez and Axel Disasi.

But still they managed to collect only one point from their opening two Premier League games of the season.

West Ham’s new signing James Ward-Prowse assisted twice in their 3-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

Aleksandri Mitrovic is on the brink of moving to Saudi Arabia and could have been an ideal forward for the Blues.

Club legend Frank Lebouef claims the club has ignored two perfect players in this summer window.

He told ESPN: ‘Why didn’t Chelsea think about players like James Ward-Prowse or Aleksandar Mitrovic? I don’t know, they’re not big-time players, but they don’t cost £100million and they are going to serve you immediately because they know the league.

‘When I saw James Ward-Prowse signing for West Ham, I thought… oh my God, why didn’t Chelsea consider that guy?! He would have been perfect. He showed that [yesterday].’

‘I always say it and I will keep saying it, Chelsea are getting young players on long-term contracts that will be nice for the future. This club is not a team for the future, it’s a team for the present time! And in the present, they are not ready.”
