Chelsea’s new goalkeeper signing Edouard Mendy has released a positive injury update.

He wrote on Instagram : “Little hitch, I’m going to do everything I can to come back faster and stronger. Thank you all for your messages.”

The Senegalese FA also reported that he won’t be available for the upcoming internationals.

“Edouard Mendy has also left the group to return to his club where he will undergo further examinations.

“The Senegalese Football Federation wishes him a speedy recovery.

“He will be replaced by the young goalkeeper of the U20 national team, Boubacar Fall, who was regrouping in Toubab Dialao and who moved to Rabat in the early evening.”

Kepa, meanwhile, is reported to be feeling better and more confident of himself as Mendy recovers – and he is more than ready to fight Mendy for his place in the starting squad.

“I feel good, strong and confident,” he said earlier this week.

“Maybe it’s not the dream situation, but sometimes these things happen. I am confident I will turn my form around.

“I do not have the feeling of being a substitute. We have three goalkeepers and the level is very high.

“He (Lampard) is the coach who chooses the eleven and we have to try to do our best and if we do not play we must try as much as possible.”
