The Independent claims that Chelsea is getting closer to appointing Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager

This week, the negotiations between the Blues and Pochettino picked up speed under the leadership of co-owner Todd Boehly. They have been talking about the club’s summer business, which will be heavily focused on transfer market dealings.

Chelsea must reduce its roster after spending more than £600 million over the last two transfer windows. The Blues must balance the books or risk breaking Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

Since Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are no longer candidates for the position, Pochettino can now be hired. Pochettino and Chelsea have intensified negotiations, but that does not mean he will be Chelsea’s new manager.

The Blues are still looking to complete their research to locate a manager who matches with their long-term goals. Fans of Chelsea do not share that viewpoint. Many people worry that Enrique and Nagelsmann, the new owners’ top targets, are irritated. Pochettino’s relationship with Tottenham Hotspur is another concern, and his tactical knowledge is in doubt.

Although Chelsea insisted Nagelsmann was never their first option, reports in German media imply he had reservations about the team’s overall sporting philosophy. Pochettino is the only candidate for the Chelsea post, and he will likely be hired in the upcoming weeks.
