Chelsea plotting a move for Aaron Ramsdale this January

Chelsea are reportedly considering a January move for Aaron Ramsdale.

The English goalkeeper has been Arsenal’s No.1 since he arrived from Sheffield United in the summer of 2021.

He has kept over 30 clean sheets in 80 appearances for the Gunners over the past two seasons.

But the 25-year-old shot-stopper has lost his place to summer signing David Raya who arrived from Brentford on loan this summer.

Despite making a handful of silly errors, the Spaniard quickly displaced Ramsdale in the starting XI including in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea over the weekend.

There has been increasing uncertainty over the Englishman’s future as it’s unlikely that he would want to continue in a backup role.

Chelsea has identified Ramsdale as a possible target this January amid concerns over Robert Sanchez this season.

Sanchez arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer but he has particularly not been impressive and made some high-profile errors already this season.

Ramsdale is in no rush to make a decision on his future as he would want to fight to get back into the team.

Arsenal might also refuse to let their English shot-stopper join a Premier League rival.
