Chelsea Looking For Ideal Way To Approach Timo Werner Deal

Chelsea have reportedly made inquiries about RB Leipzig forward, Timo Werner.

There seems to be some confusion about the striker’s release clause whether it is £26.5m or £52m.

Werner signed a contract extension in 2019, vowing to stay at Leipzig till June 2023. This has immediately shot up his value in the transfer market with plenty of European outfits interested. One of Chelsea’s biggest competitors is Manchester United.

Blues fans believe it is imperative Frank Lampard adds more strength to his attacking lineup. With Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud failing to hit conistent scoring numbers. Tammy Abraham has shouldered much of the responsibilities till now but adding Werner will give Chelsea a new dynamic.

The German forward is only 23 years old and continues to eclipse his own records season after season. He has already struck 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga games this term. He is ridiculously fast on the break and has already developed a keen eye for goal.

Chelsea are also in the market for a winger with both Willian and Pedro closing in towards the end of their contracts. That will leave the club with just Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic as their wing options. Werner is a versatile enough to appear from the flanks as well as centrally.
