Chelsea are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah

Chelsea pursues Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno

Chelsea Football Club has been reported to be in talks to sign Torino’s Alessandro Buongiorno. Other Serie A powerhouses have shown interest in the promising Italian center-back, including Juventus.

According to sources, Chelsea and Juventus have approached Torino about acquiring Buongiorno, and the Italian club has set a minimum transfer fee of €35 million.

This revelation comes as Chelsea faces uncertainty in their present defensive setup, with Thiago Silva’s contract set to expire at the end of the season and Trevoh Chalobah linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The Blues, who have defensive heavyweights like Thiago Silva and promising star Trevoh Chalobah on their team, appear to be looking into opportunities to ensure defensive unity in the coming seasons.

While Silva continues to impress on the field, the expiration of his contract pushes Chelsea to investigate alternatives, with Buongiorno developing as a strong contender.

Buongiorno has played an important part in Torino’s Serie A campaign, starting in 13 league games and scoring two goals.

The 22-year-old’s amazing performances have not gone overlooked, and Torino’s willingness to negotiate a transfer cost shows that they are willing to let go of the potential defender.

As the transfer season advances, it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be able to sign Buongiorno, potentially bringing in a new era in their defensive lineup and filling the void left by the loss of the seasoned Thiago Silva.
