Lukaku, Ziyech, Broja, and Maatsen headed for Stamford Bridge departure
Fabrizio Romano has dropped a bombshell regarding Chelsea’s upcoming summer transfer plans, revealing that the Blues are gearing up for a major squad overhaul.
According to the renowned transfer guru, at least four players are destined to bid farewell to Stamford Bridge as the club looks to reshape its roster ahead of the new season.
In his Daily Briefing, Romano reported that Chelsea are expecting a busy summer transfer window:
“We’re likely to see departures at Chelsea this summer, particularly with the players who are currently out on loan.
“As previously reported, the plan is for Armando Broja to be sold once he comes back from his loan at Fulham, and Hakim Ziyech can already be considered to have played his last game for Chelsea.
“I also expect Romelu Lukaku and Ian Maatsen to leave Chelsea, but for the others, we have to wait and see what happens.”
Leading the exodus is none other than Belgian powerhouse Romelu Lukaku, who has reportedly fallen out of favor under manager Mauricio Pochettino’s blueprint for success.
Lukaku’s stint in Italy with Roma has been fruitful, netting 20 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions, but his return to Chelsea seems unlikely.
Joining Lukaku on the chopping block are Hakim Ziyech, Armando Broja, and Ian Maatsen, all deemed surplus to requirements in Pochettino’s grand design.
Ziyech, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is poised to make his move permanent, while Broja’s struggles at Fulham hint at an imminent departure.
However, the most intriguing saga unfolds with Maatsen, whose stellar loan spell at Borussia Dortmund has caught the eye of his parent club.
Dortmund, eager to retain the Dutch left-back’s services, are set to engage Chelsea in negotiations, aiming to secure a deal below his £35 million release clause.
With the summer transfer window looming large, Chelsea’s intentions to offload these four stars signal a seismic shift in their squad dynamics, as they strive to navigate the ever-competitive landscape of English football.
