Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell ruled out until the end of December.

The English defender has succumbed to another hamstring injury this year and is expected to spend at least two months on the sidelines.

He has been a key player for Mauricio Pochettino and also took the captain’s armband in the absence of Reece James.

Chilwell was ruled of last year’s World Cup with a torn hamstring and also missed a part of the last season with a similar strain.

The Chelsea vice-captain will join the likes of Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile in the treatment room.

Chelsea have recently struggled with a number of injuries and the manager would hope Chilwell returns before the end of December.

“Can’t catch a break,” Chilwell wrote.

“Believe me, I am more frustrated than you guys. All I can do now is help the team as best as I can from the sidelines, until I can get back to giving everything for the club on the pitch again.

“Ups and downs but that’s life. Just focused on getting this club back where it deserves to be. Thank you as always for the love, Chels fans.”
