Barcelona are looking to secure pre-contract deals for Chelsea duo Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen

The Catalan giants had a busy winter transfer window, with the primary goal of strengthening the offence. Dani Alves was joined by Ferran Torres, Adama Traore, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

They are now looking to strengthen their backline, and it has been claimed that the club’s management has verbally agreed to a three-year agreement with Blues captain Azpilicueta.

Negotiations with Christensen were recently halted, but the Blaugrana are now ready to resume talks over a potential move this summer.

Both players’ contracts are coming to an end in the next five months. The La Liga heavyweights are eager to finalise pre-contract agreements with the duo in the coming days.

Azpilicueta has been with the Blues for over a decade, but he looks to be seeking a new challenge abroad due to the failure of contract negotiations.

The Blues tend to adopt a strict policy of handing one-year extensions to players aged above 30.

A move to Camp Nou could see him establish himself as the number one right-back which won’t be the case with the Blues with the fierce competition from Reece James.

Chelsea has been attempting to extend both players’ contracts. However, the discussions have failed, and Barcelona is seeking to capitalise.

According to reports, the Catalan club has been in contact with the two about contract negotiations.

Azpilicueta will be given a three-year contract, whereas Chelsea will only offer a one-year term. Christensen, who wants to play at Camp Nou, has also received an offer.

The duo seem very likely to depart from Stamford Bridge.
