Following rumours that Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is about to reject a loan transfer to Los Angeles FC, Graham Potter has provided an honest update on the striker’s future

The striker was signed by previous manager Thomas Tuchel, who was fired just days after bringing in the Gabon international. Aubameyang has had difficulty playing since Tuchel was fired since Kai Havertz has been the main front-line option at Stamford Bridge.

Aubameyang was left out of the Blues’ squad for their recent draw with Fulham, according to Potter, who said he preferred to give David Datro Fofana more playing time. A deal between Chelsea and LAFC for Aubameyang to go on loan until the summer, according to reports from France, was reached.

The striker is still a member of Chelsea as of right now because nothing has been made official, but it is still unclear whether he will be included in the Blues’ squad to face West Ham on Saturday. In a press conference before the match, Potter gave an update on Aubameyang’s situation.

If Aubameyang leaves, Chelsea will only have Havertz and Fofana as healthy and dependable number nines under Potter. While Armando Broja is now suffering from a long-term injury, other candidates include Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix, who was loaned out in January.

Romelu Lukaku, who is on loan at Inter Milan and is now having trouble with his form, may be replaced by a new number nine by Chelsea in the summer and if he shows up, may be used as a false-9.
