The American international is going through some tough times at the moment.
Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic was left in tears after being substituted while on international duty with USA.
The 21-year-old, who has started just four times for the Blues since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in the summer, was replaced on the hour as his country lost to Canada in a CONCACAF Nations League match on Tuesday.
Pulisic departed with the game locked at 0-0 with the USA falling to their first defeat to Canada in 34 years following goals from Alphonso Davies and Lucas Cavallini.
Explaining his decision to haul off the former Borussia Dortmund star, head coach Gregg Berhalter said Pulisic had been struggling with “flu-like symptoms” in the days leading into Tuesday’s match, playing a factor in his decision to make the change.
But with the game at 0-0 when he was brought off, Pulisic was clearly unhappy with the coach’s decision. Television replays showed the winger arguing with Berhalter, while saying: “I’m fine.” Moments after that exchange, Pulisic was seen with his head in his hands and looked to be in tears.
Pulisic now returns to Chelsea where he has been struggling to win a place in Frank Lampard’s side. The 21-year-old, who joined Chelsea this summer, has played just 10 minutes in his side’s last four Premier League matches. In addition, he was dropped from the squad for their Champions League win against Lille earlier this month.
