Chelsea have confirmed that Maurizio Sarri will leave the club to become the new Juventus manager. Sarri joined Chelsea last summer following the sacking of Antonio Conte.

In his only season at Chelsea, Sarri guided the club to a third place finish in the Premier League in addition to the Europa League, his maiden managerial trophy. Sarri also managed Chelsea to the Carabao Cup Final. Under Sarri, Chelsea won 39 of their 63 matches while drawing 13 and losing 11.

There was plenty of talk of Sarri leaving Chelsea following the Europa League Final. Sarri himself said that he wanted to return to Italy which he will now.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia thanked Sarri for his services to the club. Granovskaia said, “In talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant. He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point.

Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Sarri will replace Massimiliano Allegri as Juventus manager and will sign a contract till 2022. Given his managerial record at Napoli, there’s no doubt that Sarri will guide Juventus to more trophies during his stint at the club.
