Chelsea have agreed a fee with Southampton for midfielder Romeo Lavia

Noni Madueke excited to watch Romeo Lavia play next season

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke is eagerly anticipating the return of his teammate, Romeo Lavia, next season. The 22-year-old, who enjoyed a productive season himself, has expressed his excitement about Lavia’s potential impact on the team.

Madueke believes that the 20-year-old midfielder possesses “elite talent” and is buzzing to see what he can bring to the pitch.

“I don’t want say I feel like anyone’s going to be better than anyone else. However, I’m really excited to watch Romeo play next season. He’s got bags of ability and it’s been unfortunate for him this season being out for so long,” Madueke told ESPN.

“But I remember when he played Southampton, he was outstanding. So really excited to see him. He’s a top player and he just needs time. He’s been injured for a whole season. He’s still very young, so it’s not really about putting a lot of pressure on him, just letting him grow and develop at his pace, but he’s got elite talent and a good mindset as well.”

Despite a challenging debut season marred by injuries, with Lavia only making a brief substitute appearance against Crystal Palace in December, Madueke is confident in his teammate’s abilities.

He has called for patience from fans, emphasizing that Lavia needs time to fully recover and showcase his skills.

The Belgian midfielder, signed from Southampton for £58 million, is highly regarded for his aggressive defensive play and versatility on the ball.

Chelsea’s head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, who is managing a young squad, will likely see Lavia as a crucial addition to the team’s midfield, providing much-needed steel and control.

Madueke’s faith in Lavia’s talent reflects the high expectations surrounding the youngster. As Chelsea looks to rebuild and strengthen for the upcoming season, Lavia’s return could feel like a fresh start, potentially transforming the dynamics of the squad.
