Chelsea goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy was definitely the star of the match in the clash against United.

Mendy was able to save two balls from being netted by Marcus Rashford and both were absolutely stellar saves. Frank Lampard was extremely happy with Mendy and his goalkeeping skills he showed on the pitch.

Lampard said, “I’m very pleased with his performance. It was very good. You rely on your goalkeeper for those moments. It was a tight game, not full of many chances. He showed what he’s there for.

“We brought him in because we knew his quality, and he’s shown great composure in the games he’s played already.

“I’m delighted with the saves today.”

Mendy saved so well, that Manchester United counterpart couldn’t help but praise the Blues goalkeeper.

De Gea said, “I think we had two or three big chances, especially with Rashy, but the keeper saves [them]. That is fine and, like I said before, we deserve a bit more. [It was] a tough game and now we need to look forward to the next game.

“It was the best time to score a goal,” he added, on Rashford’s injury-time chance. “I was watching from behind and saw the keeper saving the ball. That’s us trying to the end, trying to score a goal until the last second of a game.”
