Manchester United’s initial bid of £40m gets rejected.

The 24-year-old now has only 12 months left on his Chelsea contract and the club are demanding £70million for the prized midfielder.

Mount is inching closer toward an exit from his boyhood club and Man United are frontrunners in his signature.

United have a price in mind and would not overpay for the Chelsea academy graduate and would be prepared to walk away from the deal.

Personal terms between Manchester United and Mount are expected to not be an issue.

Pundit Ben Jacobs claims United will make a second bid very soon as Mount warrants an exit from Stamford Bridge.

Jacob said: “Manchester United will be back for a second bid for Mason Mount. Chelsea rejected the initial £40m offer near-instantly.”

“There remains a high probability Mount will leave and he’s keen on the Manchester United move.”

“Chelsea sticking to their valuation for now and Manchester United won’t go above £60m.”
