Malang Sarr is now a forgotten man at Chelsea.

The French defender came close to leaving Chelsea on the deadline day but his move to Le Havre collapsed in the final minutes of the January transfer window.

Since joining the Blues, Sarr has been in a total of 21 matches and failed to establish himself in the first-team squad.

Sarr joined from Nice on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 and spent the last season on loan at Monaco.

He failed to make an impression with the French club and Monaco refused to trigger his £12.6million buyout last summer.

The centre-back was viewed as an exciting prospect by European clubs and has scarcely featured for the West London outfit in the last four seasons.

Malang Sarr was not part of the Chelsea pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino as the defender was sidelined with a muscular abdominal surgery.

According to reports, the defender has asked to be included in any of the games in the EFL Cup this season.

His contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2025 and Sarr would want to secure a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge when the season concludes.
