Ian Maatsen may be open to leaving Chelsea next year

Maatsen admitted he is “keeping all options open” regarding his future with the club.

Chelsea star Ian Maatsen has opened up on his future at Stamford Bridge. He may be open to leaving the club should he remain on the fringes of the first team.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Burnley and then rejected the offer to join the Championship winners permanently over the summer after a £31.5m deal had been agreed.

He hoped to break into the Chelsea side, but he has yet to start a league game for the club. He scored 10 goals as the Clarest raced away with the Championship title last season.

While talking to Dutch outlet AD, Maatsen admitted he is “keeping all options open” regarding his future with the club.

“The European Championship, that’s what I’m secretly hoping for. I think I have also shown myself well to the national coach during training.” Maatsen added.

“I know I have to play more for that, I still think it is possible at Chelsea.”
