Ian Maatsen nears exit from Chelsea as personal terms with Borussia Dortmund agreed

Ian Maatsen of Chelsea appears ready to leave Stamford Bridge in a surprise move as he has supposedly agreed to personal terms with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

The revelation was first revealed on Twitter by Sky journalist Patrick Berger, who said that the 21-year-old is now excitedly expecting the two teams to complete the agreement.

He said: “Ian Maatsen still only wants to go to Dortmund and has informed Chelsea of his wish. According to Sky information, the left-back agrees with Borussia Dortmund.

“Everything depends on the Blues, who actually want an obligation to buy. Negotiations are ongoing…”

Maatsen had previously drawn notice when Burnley made an offer that Chelsea accepted during the summer transfer window. After an outstanding preseason, the young star decided to stay put, thinking he had a chance to make the first team.

Despite his high expectations, Maatsen has only made one league start while struggling to establish a consistent spot under manager Mauricio Pochettino. After a significant summer spending excessively, Chelsea is trying to balance its budgets, and Maatsen has surfaced as one of the players they are willing to let go of.

The left-back, who is keen to make an impression in the fiercely competitive Bundesliga, might make a fresh start by joining Borussia Dortmund.

Fans are eager to see how this January transfer drama plays out even though personal terms have been agreed upon and talks between the two teams are still in progress.
