N’Golo Kante is still a key player for Chelsea despite injury struggles.

The 29-year old World Cup winner suffered a hamstring problem and missed three fixtures in January.

The French midfielder is yet to start a match under Thomas Tuchel and only made a few substitute appearances under the new manager.

“I think they are more cautious about making a decision if he will play or not,” said Frank Leboeuf.

“He was injured. He’s a terrific player, I think he will play soon. I don’t think Jorginho and (Mateo) Kovacic will play all the games left until the end of the season.

“I think for (Thomas) Tuchel the first choice in the middle of the park is still Kante. Kante has to be back to his best which is a problem right now because he got injured a lot.

“Maybe he lost a bit of his confidence. When he’s back to his best, I don’t see why he doesn’t play. Remember, Tuchel wanted him at Paris (Saint Germain), so I don’t think he’ll change his mind about him.”
