Former Tottenham defender Matt Dawson tells Chelsea not to play Kai Havertz as centre forward

Matt Dawson was eager to point out why Chelsea shouldn’t play Kai Havertz.

Despite a win over Leeds United, Ex-Tottenham defender Matt Dawson feels Chelsea should not play Kai Havertz as center-forward.

Chelsea ended their long winless jinx when they beat the Whites 1-0 in their previous Premier League tie. Graham Pooter was more relaxed with this win.

This was Chelsea’s second win in 12 games and it was Wesley Fofana’s who scored his first Premier League goal since leaving Leicester City in the summer.

Many people pointed the finger at Kai Havertz for missing a couple of opportunities that could have given Chelsea an easy victory. Matt Dawson feels Chelsea should stop playing Havertz in the false nine positions.

When speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football.London), the former Tottenham defender was eager to point out why Chelsea shouldn’t play the Germany international in the false nine positions, as he stated:

“Kai Havertz, he’s just not a number nine. He doesn’t want to stay between the sticks. He just roams about and he didn’t cause them any problems today.”

A new striker should really be one of Boehly’s priorities ahead of the summer transfer window due to Chelsea’s limited goal production.
