From Chelsea to Arsenal: Jorginho reflects on unexpected move

Former Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has opened out about his sudden departure from Stamford Bridge earlier this year.

The Italian international showed his surprise at the unexpected and sudden transfer to Arsenal, claiming that the decision took him off guard.

He said: “I didn’t see that coming, I think it happened in less than 48 hours. I saw the opportunity of working in a team that had an amazing project, of growing a team, to try and achieve and feeling that they wanted me to give this help to improve the team.

“I am glad they knew I would always put the team first. The project convinced me straight away to come. I did not have to think too much.”

Jorginho, who was formerly a regular in Chelsea’s starting lineup, is now mostly used as a substitute. The Blues’ midfield situation has changed significantly in the last year, owing to considerable investments in young players.

Chelsea broke their transfer record by signing Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in consecutive windows. They also made an important acquisition in Romeo Lavia, fending off interest from Liverpool.

Additionally, Jorginho isn’t the only player leaving Chelsea this year, with Mateo Kovacic and N’golo Kante also leaving.

Despite the shock and adjustment, Jorginho is enjoying his new position at Arsenal, where he soon accepted the concept of wearing the red and white.

While Mauricio Pochettino leads Chelsea through midfield experimentation, Jorginho stays upbeat about his new chapter at the Emirates, where he believes the grass is greener than ever.

While Chelsea fans await a midfield revival, the seasoned midfielder looks forward to making his mark in Arsenal’s colors.
