Christopher Nkunku should not be expected to save Chelsea's season

Christopher Nkunku is expected to make his debut against Newcastle United.

The Frenchman joined the Blues in a £52m deal from RB Leipzig this summer and endured a knee injury during the club’s pre-season games.

Nkunku was Pochettino’s first signing when he took charge at Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

The 26-year-old striker is yet to make his debut for Chelsea and remained an unused substitute in the side’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

But the former RB Leipzig is likely to make his debut against Newcastle in their Carabao Cup quarter-final on Tuesday night.

All Chelsea supporters around the globe are keen to see Nkunku make his debut tonight.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino urged fans not to expect the Frenchman to salvage the club’s ongoing campaign.

“This is my worry: to put too much pressure on him and say ‘oh, now he’s arrived, he’s going to make us win every single game and change everything.’ I don’t believe it is going to be like this because he now needs time to recover his feeling,” Pochettino told a news conference on Monday.

“That is why we need to be careful because he still didn’t make his debut in the Premier League. You know how tough is the Premier League for every single player that came outside of England.”
