Palmer’s stellar debut season leaves pundits in awe

In a rare moment of punditry unity, football legends Joe Cole and Rio Ferdinand have found common ground in singling out Chelsea’s rising star, Cole Palmer, as the standout signing of the Premier League season.

Palmer, the 21-year-old prodigy who made the leap from Manchester City to Chelsea in a £42.5 million move last summer, has been nothing short of sensational in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Despite the challenges of a tumultuous campaign, Palmer has emerged as a beacon of promise for the Blues, showcasing his immense talent in every match.

In a recent TNT Sports broadcast, Cole and Ferdinand, sharing the punditry spotlight, didn’t mince their words when it came to praising Palmer’s impact on the league.

“I said it after the game in the height of excitement and I’m sober today and I still think it, I think so,” Cole told TNT Sports when asked if he thinks Palmer is the best signing by a Premier League team this season.

“I can’t see an argument against, for the money Chelsea paid for him and the age he’s at and what he’s done for Chelsea. I shudder to think where Chelsea would be if Cole Palmer hadn’t put pen to paper.

“He’s been that good, he really has. There have been three or four or five players at the club that I think have done well this year, but he’s been outstanding. He really has.”

Following Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Manchester United, where Palmer bagged a remarkable hat-trick, the duo were quick to laud his contributions.

“Yeah, I think he [Palmer] has to be,” said Ferdinand said. “[Alexis] Mac Allister has put in a case towards now. He scored a great goal the other day.

“At the business end of the season, he has come to the fore. But I think if you look at the numbers this kid [Palmer] has put up, he’s a young boy as well.

“The biggest compliment I can give him is that Cole Palmer seems like the kid who will go anywhere in the world, in the biggest stadiums in the world, and it will feel to him like he’s just going down to the goals in his local area with his mates.

“He scored a hat-trick the other day. After the game, me and him [Cole] are standing there going, ‘How is he so calm?’. It’s unreal.”

Cole, speaking passionately about Palmer’s rise, hailed the youngster’s remarkable journey, while Ferdinand echoed the sentiment, highlighting Palmer’s consistency and undeniable talent.

With both pundits in unanimous agreement, it’s clear that Palmer’s meteoric rise has captured the attention and admiration of even the most discerning football aficionados.

As the season unfolds, all eyes will undoubtedly remain fixed on the extraordinary talent that is Cole Palmer.
