Cole Palmer reveals Pochettino’s crucial message before winning goal against Man Utd

Cole Palmer emerged as the hero of a spectacular match between Chelsea and Manchester United, hitting a sensational hat-trick to cement his place in Premier League history.

However, it wasn’t just his striking prowess that stole the show. The young prodigy provided a critical tactical insight from manager Mauricio Pochettino, which pushed Chelsea to a thrilling win.

In a post-match interview with BBC Sport, Palmer revealed that Pochettino gave the team a strategic message shortly before the winning goal was scored in the 101st minute.

He said: “Crazy game. When we scored in the 98th minute I thought let’s go for it. Madness.

“I didn’t know what to do. I was running round when I scored. A hat-trick is a hat-trick. It was my first one, I’m really happy about it.

“I had a few penalties this season. I’m just going to continue to try to score them. If I get penalties, I’m going to try to score, I’m not going to try to miss.

“When we scored he [Pochettino] said two minutes, come on. He’s always trying to drive us on. We went for it and thankfully we scored.

“It’s a big winner. It’s a massive momentum booster. It puts everyone in a good mood. Hopefully we can kick on.”

This important signal from the manager inspired a rush of resolve in the Chelsea squad, eventually contributing to Palmer’s decisive goal.

With Chelsea’s early 2-0 advantage, the match took an unexpected turn as Manchester United fought back, laying the stage for a nail-biting finish.

Palmer’s heroics not only gave a memorable win for Chelsea, but also relieved some of the strain on Pochettino, who had been under intense criticism coming up to the match.

However, Palmer’s openness, indicates areas of concern for Chelsea, especially their defensive vulnerabilities in the closing minutes of the match.

With another match against Sheffield United coming up, Pochettino is likely to concentrate on resolving these weaknesses and fine-tuning the team’s performance for future difficulties.
