Emerson injury update

Emerson Palmieri has had an unfortuante season in terms of injuries.

First, he walked off a few weeks ago and now that he was back, he again had to limp off after 15 minutes in the match against Liverpool.

In the immediate aftermath of the match, Frank had said that Emerson could be back quicker this time as he thought the injury was more of a warning.

He had said, “Emerson is a similar injury to what he had, which with a muscle it means you have come back too soon, and that is not a slight on him because everybody wants to play in this game. Those things should not happen.

“Christensen is a bang on the back of the knee which we will assess. First thought is that it is not that bad.”

However, it now seems that he cannot in fact come back so early.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup game against Grimbsy Town, Lampard said: ‘Emerson now won’t be back until the other side of the international break [which is during mid-October]. ‘It will be a few weeks because it is the reoccurrence of an injury so we have to be a bit careful with it.’
