Danny Murphy questions Armando Broja's desire to join West Ham

Armando Broja is getting closer to join West Ham United.

The Albanian forward has spent the last season on loan at Southampton and didn’t fly out with the squad for the pre-season tour in USA.

The 20-year-old striker wants a permanent move to the Hammers and the club is ready to pay £30 million for the Chelsea forward.

“Sometimes it can be for good intentions,” said Murphy. “You just want a fresh start and feel like you are part of something. Feel like you belong, signed the contract and look forward to your future at the club.

“The other thing is finances. He is a young lad at Chelsea. He is probably earning decent money, but nowhere near (what he can earn). He did tremendously well (at Southampton). I think he did better than people think he would for a young guy.

“If you are leaving Chelsea to go on a permanent to West Ham and they are paying £30 million quid for you, then you have got some good negotiating. They want you, so you have a good reason to ask for a good contract. They want him. He’s going to play and he’s getting the money he wants.

“The sensible advice would be, and the agent won’t see it this way, would be to go on loan because you are already signed to a huge football club. If you set the world alight, and score a load of goals for West Ham, then you could walk back into Chelsea’s team and be the answer to their problems. Why would you cut off that opportunity?”
