Chelsea and Liverpool of the Premier League are competing with each other to acquire Serie A team Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu

Clubs around Europe are already keeping an eye on the 18-year-old, and he is beginning to play more frequently for Leece in Serie A.

The youthful left-back has appeared in seven games so far this season, including two starts in Serie A. Liverpool ‘will bid’ for Dorgu during the summer transfer window, but they did not end up acquiring the highly regarded defender.

Liverpool is still up against Chelsea in the race to recruit Dorgu, according to Spanish publication Fichajes, and they will have to ‘fight’ to get the teenager. The two Premier League clubs are “locked in a battle” to sign Dorgu because he has “captured the attention of scouts” at those organisations.

It is claimed that he “emerged as one of the most outstanding young talents in Serie A” and that “several European clubs” have expressed interest in signing him. The defender is reportedly ‘leaning towards’ a move to Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea and Liverpool are’stepping up their efforts’ to sign him.

Dorgu recently stated that playing for Chelsea is his “dream” because he has been a “fan of them for over 10 years.” His agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, stated this summer that Liverpool “want him,” but that he “advised” his client to decline a move to Anfield.
