Chelsea has approached AC Milan about moving Mike Maignan

According to L’Equipe (h/t The Sun), Chelsea have gotten in touch with Serie A powerhouse AC Milan about hiring custodian Mike Maignan.

Prior to the upcoming transfer window, the Blues have begun negotiations with the Italian club for their outstanding custodian. The Stamford Bridge team has inquired about the France international’s availability in order to achieve this. Recently, Mauricio Pochettino was named the club’s new head coach in West London. The 27-year-old of the Rossoneri is among the targets the Argentine has already identified.

The current options for the former Tottenham Hotspur manager are Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga. He has nonetheless determined Maignan to be a prospective new number one because he is not happy with the Senegalese or the Spaniard. Unfortunately, Milan has no plans to let go of their custodian. Only in the event that a sizable offer comes in would the Serie A powerhouses consider offloading the France international.

After Gianluigi Donnarumma left, the custodian transferred from LOSC Lille to the Italian team in the summer of 2021. The 27-year-old has been among the greatest goaltenders in the world for the past two seasons. Since his national team’s 2022 AFCON victory, Mendy appears to have lost confidence, which is bad news for Chelsea. The Senegalese played a crucial role in our recent Champions League winning campaign. Sadly, over the past few months, the 31-year-old has made a lot of mistakes.

Since moving to the Blues from Athletic Bilbao, Kepa Arrizabalaga has had difficulty. Due to his inconsistent play, the Spaniard has been on and off the team. However, the 28-year-old was primarily our first option for the 2022–2023 campaign. Our recent results indicate that the Stamford Bridge team needs a squad change. The West London club ought to support Mauricio Pochettino and go after Maignan if he is unsatisfied with either of his current alternatives.
