After witnessing a large-scale player departure from the west London team, Mauricio Pochettino is hoping to bolster his Blues roster with more talent this summer.

Cherki, 19, has caught the attention of scouts at Chelsea, who are considering making an offer for him.

The Ligue 1 giants may decide to sell the young prodigy in the coming months because he has less than two years left on his contract with Lyon. The same source asserts that Chelsea scouts kept an eye on Cherki on a number of times as they evaluated the play of right-back Malo Gusto, who joined the Blues in January in a transfer worth up to £35 million.

Negotiations between the two teams, however, may be challenging given that Laurent Blanc, the head coach of Lyon, is said to get along well with Cherki. According to French reports, the kid might cost Chelsea £43 million, so Pochettino would need to be persuaded of the talent of the child.

Due to his senior-level experience, transfer source Dean Jones recently told GIVEMESPORT that Cherki fits the ideal signing profile for the west London team. Romano also thinks it’s normal for elite teams like Chelsea to be interested in one of the “best talents” in the world, but he isn’t aware of any direct negotiations between Chelsea and Lyon for his services.
