Chelsea have received a vote of confidence from Newcastle United manager, Steve Bruce.
Not many view the Blues as title-contenders just yet but apparently the Magpies boss does.
Ahead of Chelsea’s visit to St. James’ Park on Saturday, Bruce told Chronicle Live, “They have bought exceptionally good players, and that makes life a little bit easier if you are Chelsea I suppose.
“Of course, you have to find the right balance and they certainly seem to have got that. They look a very good side. I believe personally they will be there or thereabout with the changes they have made.”
Chelsea sit fifth in the table with 15 points and three behind leaders, Leicester City. It has been a chaotic start to the Premier League season with the big six taking on surprising defeats.
The Blues seem to have found a bit of form recently and more structure to their defence. They beat Sheffield United 4-1 the last time out and seem to have scraped through the international break without any injuries.
Chelsea definitely invested enough last summer to warrant Bruce’s comments. Many thought that they would get off to the flying start but that has not been the case. Perhaps, they will find their footing from here on out. Both Liverpool and Manchester City look far more shaky than their dominant selves in previous seasons.
