Chelsea receives boost in pursuit of Serie A star

The player was also linked with a move to Blues in the summer

Maurizio Sarri was appointed as Chelsea’s new manager this summer after Antonio Conte was sacked despite his contract expiring next summer. The 59 year old identified many targets from Serie A including from his former club Napoli.

Daniele Rugani was one of the players who was heavily linked with a move to the Blues and it looked a deal was imminent. Hewas high on the manager’s list of targets, with the pair previously having worked together at Empoli.

The Italy International made his debut for Juventus in 2015 and have caught eyes with the limited game-time he got. He is still trying to nail down a spot in the first team but has seen his playing time increase over the past year, making 26 appearances in all competitions.

The 23 year old is considered as one of the most promising and talented centre-backs of his generation. It has been suggested that he is one for the future for the Italian side.

The Serie A giants had no intention of their prized asset in the summer and there were suggestions he will be offered a new deal to ward off interest from his potential suitors. But the London Outfit have received boost in their pursuit of the defender.

Daniele Rugani’s contract talks with Juventus have reportedly hit the rocks according to Calcio Mercato.

The player has struggled to feature regularly this season, making just 1 appearances after the unexpected return of Leonardo Bonucci from AC Milan. He has fallen further down the pecking order and fresh doubts have been cast on his future.

The Italian wanted a fresh contract to reaffirm his status as a regular in the side, while Juve were keen to secure his signature for the future.

Sarri’s side could be tempted to make another move for him with Gary Cahill’s future in doubt and he would be a long term replacement for the veteran defender.
