One of Chelsea’s last few senior players in the club is Willian.
The Brazilian joined the Blues in 2013 and in his seven years has dazzled for the club. However, his contract is now about to end. Chelsea are in a stand-off about his contract situation with other clubs circling the player for his signature.Â
His agent has now given an update on his contract situation.
“Willian wanted to sign a three-year contract in order to achieve the things he wants to achieve in the next few years and then see where his career takes him from there,” Joorabchian told Sky Sports.
“Chelsea’s policy, though, only allows two [years] so that’s where the block was.
“At the moment he is a Chelsea player; he has a contract with Chelsea until the season is over, so I think it is disrespectful to talk about moving to other clubs.
“We have not spoken to Tottenham or any other club at the moment.”
The Brazilian is now 32 years old and it makes sense for Chelsea to not offer him a 3-year contract. The player will be 35 by the end of this contract and is unlikely to be a starter for Chelsea at that age.Â
