Trevoh Chalobah struggled to make a move this January.

The Chelsea academy graduate has reached the crossroads of his career since Mauricio Pochettino took over the head coach position at Stamford Bridge.

He has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Axel Disasi from Monaco last summer.

The 24-year-old defender has not made a single competitive appearance for the Blues this season.

Chalobah has struggled for game time over the past two seasons and is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

He was expected to be sold in January amid interest from a few Serie A clubs and Premier League clubs.

The Englishman was keen to reignite his career at a different club but his salary demands made his move unfeasible according to transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano.

“The defender is now prepared to fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s team as he is going to be fit and ready to play soon,” Romano said.

“In January Chalobah had some chances to leave the London club but it was never really close. Atletico Madrid considered the possibility of signing him, same for West Ham but nothing was ever close because of his salary, which was considered too high for a six-month loan.”
