OFFICIAL: Burnley sign Chelsea's David Datro Fofana on loan

Sevilla were the frontrunners to sign Fofana but Burnely won the race.

Chelsea have finally given the departure to David Datro Fofana. Burnley have signed the Blues striker on loan until the end of the season.

Chelsea man spent this season with the Bundesliga club, Union Berlin. He has scored two goals in 17 appearances. He hasn’t been part of the plans of Pochenttino.

Fofana was recalled by Chelsea and has now joined last season’s Championship winners, Burnley for the remainder of the season. As per reports, Sevilla were the frontrunners to sign him but Burnely won the race.

The 21-year-old is also the first signing for the Clarets. He speaks to club website and said, “It feels very good to be here, I’m really happy. I think it will be a really good place for me to progress and it’s the perfect move for me.”

“To work with Vincent Kompany will be very good. I have seen a couple of games already and I think this is the right place for me to make the next steps.

“I have known about Burnley for a long time, they have been in the Premier League before this season and the champions last year and I’m now looking forward to now being a part of this team.”

Burnley will now take on Manchester City in their next Premier League game. David Fofana can make his debut against the reigning champions.

The Clarets are struggling in their comeback season in the Premier League. Championship winners have taken the 19th spot in the top-flight. They will look to avoid relegation this season and this signing would be a game-changer for them.
