Mauricio Pochettino won't rush Nkunku into the first team

Christopher Nkunku is yet to make his competitive debut for Chelsea.

The Frenchman has been sidelined with a knee injury he sustained in the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.

Chelsea fans are eagerly waiting for his immediate impact at Chelsea once he returns to action.

Nkunku is expected to have a major impact on Mauricio Pochettino’s side since his £52million move to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

He is considered as one of the most exciting players to watch in Europe after bagging 16 goals in the Bundesliga last campaign with RB Leipzig.

The French forward has returned to first-team training but manager Pochettino has no intention of throwing him into the league so soon.

“Nkunku was doing things with the group last week. But he’s not fully recovered to be part of the squad,” Pochettino said on Friday.

“We’re going to find the best way for him to fit in the team. He needs to build his form and be at his best level.

“We need to understand he’s coming back from injury, he will need time. We will be patient with him. It’s not a competition that he’s normally used to.”

The 26-year-old striker is slowly edging closer to his competitive debut for the West London club.
