Chelsea lost three players to injury in the clash against Everton.

The Blues were beaten 2-0 at Goodison Park as captain Reece James limped off with a hamstring injury in the first half of the tie and had to be replaced by Levi Colwill.

Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and defender Marc Cucurella were replaced in the second half by Dorde Petrovic and Ian Maatsen, with the former making his debut for Chelsea.

The loss left Chelsea 12th in the Premier League standings, as they are 14 points off the Champions League spot.

The injury is concerning as first-choice left-back Ben Chilwell is out until the New Year with a thigh problem.

The injuries add to Chelsea’s long list of absentees with Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku and Ben Chilwell among the other few players currently out of action.

‘He [Sanchez] suffered a problem against Manchester United in his knee and he felt something in the second half,’ the manager said.

‘Hope it is not a big issue like Marc Cucurella, twisted his ankle. Hope we can recover as soon as possible.

‘These type of circumstances we are dealing with from the beginning and it is too much if we want to progress.’
