Cole Palmer joined Chelsea this summer in search of more regular football.

The Blues forked out a hefty fee of £45m to secure the services of the talented Man City academy graduate this summer.

Palmer made a move to Stamford Bridge as he struggled for minutes at the Etihad under the management of Pep Guardiola.

So far, the youngster has been impressive for the Blues and put on an outstanding display against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday night.

The 21-year-old has been impressive with his defending off the ball which led to Chelsea’s second goal of the night.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher has heaped praise on Palmer’s performance in the 2-0 win.

“A big part for me is Cole Palmer’s role in this. I think he’s fantastic because yes, we have seen Mudryk and the position he takes up and the run he makes, but this is a different kind of run,” Carragher told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel.

“Palmer is only new to the team, but the way he closes down and shapes his body to force Tim Ream to make a pass is absolutely brilliant. His manager will be as pleased with Palmer defensively.”
