Valencia game biggest match of season: Abraham

Valencia biggest game of my career

Tammy Abraham has labelled Chelsea’s game against Valencia as the biggest game of the season.

“We know this is our biggest game of the season so far,” the England man told a news conference. “Training hasn’t been different, we have all been enjoying it, we have been focused.

“We have to pick ourselves up after the Manchester City defeat and we know we have to give our best performance to win.”

Abraham said: “Before Valencia, some of us were warming up together and it didn’t feel real. We were in the Championship before.

“The little details need to be there, and Wednesday is a massive game. Leave it all on the pitch.

“For many of us, [playing in the Champions League] is a dream come true. We don’t want to stop now. We have to keep pushing. You have to improve.”

Chelsea lost their opening game of the season to Valencia at Stamford Bridge and are now ready to take revenge.

They will however know that with the group very evenly poised with Ajax, Valencia and Chelsea all very close to each other, a good performance is a must. Let us now see what will happen on Wednesday night.

Chelsea to axe Ross Barkley for Champions League clash against Valencia

There was a welcome return to Chelsea training for Ross Barkley on Tuesday.

However, it seems that he will miss the Valencia game.

Chelsea ace Ross Barkley may have some questions to answer this week after photos emerged of him topless in a Dubai nightclub over the international break. The 25-year-old has been a key part of Frank Lampard’s plans so far this season as he’s made nine appearances across all competitions.

However, he has been sidelined by an ankle injury in recent weeks and with several of Chelsea’s youngsters impressing this season as well as some of the more senior stars, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to claim a starting berth when he returns.

This probably won’t help his cause though, as the Daily Mail report how the England international was seen dancing topless in a Dubai nightclub over the international break. It is worth noting that the report adds that Barkley was not misbehaving and was simply just having a good time, and so from that perspective it could be argued that he should not need to face scrutiny.

Nevertheless, according to the Evening Standard, Lampard was not impressed with what he saw, so he is considering leaving out Barkley for Chelsea’s Champions League trip to Valencia amid concerns over his behavior and fitness. The Blues boss has already played down an incident with the 26-year-old midfielder this season, and so he surely will not be too happy about having to defend him again and speaking about his antics off the pitch when he simply will want to focus on what he can offer on it.

Chelsea take on Valencia on Wednesday at Mestalla knowing a win will secure their place in the last 16. Frank Lampard’s side are second in Group H after four matches, level on seven points with first-place Ajax and Valencia in third.

Kurt Zouma has thanked Jose Mourinho for believing in him when he was a teenager. The French defender has also credited the former Chelsea boss for teaching him to hate defeat.

‘He is the one who opened the door of England to me. I was only 19 when I arrived there. That’s young. It’s also him who gave me belief by playing me in big matches with a lot of intensity,’ he told France Football.

‘It is also he who showed me what football in England was about. The coach is a man who detests losing. He taught me to hate defeat.

‘Thanks to him, I got to enjoy myself at Chelsea. He has given me a lot of things and taught me an enormous amount. I thank him.’

It was during Mourinho’s second reign when Zouma was drafted into the squad from Ligue 1. Even though Mourinho had stars like Gary Cahill and John Terry at the top of their game, the Portuguese boss was never shy to field Zouma.

The young French defender had a promising career until his horrible knee injury in 2015 put him out of action.

He is still young however, and trying to make his way back to the top.

Despite losing to Manchester City over the weekend, N’Golo Kante is not ready to give up on the Premier League title.

“We are a little bit disappointed. We wanted to come for the win to keep our run going and to stay second in the table,” Kanté said after the match.

“I think it was a difficult game and we know City are a good team. We can be proud of what we did and we need to keep going for the next game.

”I think we had our chances. We could have scored to equalise but I think we are playing against a strong team. It was difficult, it was tight and they won.

“It is what we want. We want to fight against every opponent. We gave our best.

“This is the way. We need to believe that we can compete against everyone in the league and give our best to see what we can achieve this season.

“Everyone wants to play his part and give his best when they are playing. We are a squad together and it doesn’t matter who is playing, you just have to give your best for the shirt.”

“I want to help the team and keep winning to stay at the top of the table. I am trying to score when I have the opportunity to help the team.

“I think from the years I have been playing here, and I am now more often arriving in the box.”

“[But] I would rather win than score. […] I hope we can score more as a team and win many games.”

Which Chelsea star makes Carra and Nev’s team of the decade?

Which Chelsea star makes Carra and Nev's team of the decade?
Bildbyran

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville picked out stand out performer from the last decade, ie 2009-2019 to make a team that would be the best.

While both pundits had exact same defences, it was from midfield that their changes started ringing

The defence constituted of Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Kompany and Van Dijk. Our current Chelsea captain was a priority on both men’s list while former Chelsea skipper John Terry missed out due to the period (2009-2019).

In midfield, Yaya Toure and David Silva are constants for both men. However, while Carra went for the safer option of N’Golo Kante in a defensive midfield, Neville placed Eden Hazard as a central attacking midfielder. Again, either way, its two more Chelsea men on the list.

Finally in attack, Carragher put Eden Hazard next to Sergio Aguero and Gareth Bale while Neville opted a weird 3 out and out striker formation with Harry Kane, Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero!

Whoof, Proud of out boys there but I wouldn’t want to play this team!

Carragher XI: De Gea, Zabaleta, Van Dijk, Kompany, Azpilicueta, Kante, Toure, Silva, Hazard, Aguero, Bale

Neville XI: De Gea, Zabaleta, Van Dijk, Kompany, Azpilicueta, Hazard, Toure, Silva, Kane, Aguero, Suarez

Reasons For Valencia vs Chelsea Betting Tips and Our Predictions

The Chelsea squad are favourites to win this match 2.25 with Unibet, with Valencia priced at 3.30 with Unibet despite winning the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge 0-1.

Given their performances this season, it’s not hard to see why the Blues are the price they are. Frank Lampard’s men are fourth in the Premier League and are recently blew their 6-game winning streak.

Valencia are not the force they once were in Spanish football, currently in the 10th spot of the La Liga. But Albert Celades’ men really surprised the Blues in the first group stage game in September. The Oranges are holding their own in the Champions League as well, leading the Group H with a better goal difference and head-to-head record. They could surprise both Chelsea and Ajax and go through to the next round if they win this tie – 3.30 with Unibet.

Speaking of quality, this will be an opportunity for Tammy Abraham to keep his excellent scoring run going. Michy Batshuayi was the hero at Amsterdam but Abraham might be recalled for this crucial tie which is why he has been handed odds of 5.10 with bet365 to score the first goal.

Zouma hails boss Lampard

Kurt Zouma has labelled Frank Lampard as a fearless leader.

The French defender has destined the club legend to become one of the best coaches.

“He has no fear, he has no fear. He has given a lot of young players an opportunity. And it is working. He knows how to speak to them. He also knows that there are experienced players who are going to speak to the youngsters and give them advice. He is someone who is going to become a great coach.”

“There are no doubts. He has only started coaching very recently, but it is going very well for him so far. And honestly all the success that he is having he deserves, because he works really hard, like he did as a player. We can see he does a lot of work in training.”

On his first meeting with the Chelsea legend, Zouma said, “I had a meeting with him immediately. He told me that he wanted me to stay. I immediately told him that I would stay at Chelsea and I was happy about this decision. And I am trying every weekend to repay his faith in me.”

Kante reveals why he turned PSG down

Kante reveals why he turned PSG down
Bildbyran

N’Golo Kante is a Chelsea club favorite.

The French World Cup winner moved to England with Leicester City and in his very first season he won the Premier League.

Chelsea were quick to swoop in on the midfield star as he was signed for a fee little over 32 million pounds in 2016.

Since then he has gone on to show the world that he is one of the best midfielders in the world.

Many suitors have taken notice of that and one team who particularly wanted Kante and still does is Paris Saint Germain.

The Paris based club have offered him great contracts and Chelsea good money for the player but Kante has revealed why he turned down PSG.

“Sometimes we do not necessarily know where we want to go. But we know what we have. I know I was in Chelsea and I was good there,” he told Canal Plus.

“If I did not want to come to PSG it was more a sporting choice. I felt good in London, in the project and I was happy to stay there.”

At Chelsea, Kante has won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Europa League in three seasons and looks set to win more under Lampard’s stewardship.

Willian thinks Chelsea did not deserve to lose

Willian feels Chelsea deserved more
Bildbyran

Chelsea veteran Willian feels that the Blues should have taken something out of the game versus Manchester City on Saturday.

Chelsea lost 2-1 after dominating City and Willian felt they deserved more.

Chelsea were on control of the midfield at the Etihad, something that has not happened a lot against Pep Guardiola teams. However, experience prevailed as City went on to beat Chelsea 2-1.

“I think it was a great game,” Willian told chelseafc.com.

Before we conceded a goal we were in total control of the game. We were confident and I thought we played well the whole game.

“We created some chances and we could have scored two or three goals but we know it is always difficult to play here against City, they have a great team so I think we have to stay with our heads up and move on to the next one.”

“He played well. He was in control in midfield with Jorginho and Kovacic,” the Brazilian added.

“They all played well and I think we deserved a better result but City have a very strong team.

“Now we need to carry on and forget this game and move on to the next on.”
