Chelsea see Burnley’s Vincent Kompany as a backup plan to their preferred pick, Mauricio Pochettino, while Tottenham have also been in touch since Daniel Levy is a fan

In Kompany’s first season at Turf Moor, the Clarets won promotion back to the Premier League and the Championship.

Chelsea and Tottenham have been mentioned as potential employers for the Belgian after his first season as a coach in English football.

While the Spurs have already replaced caretaker manager Cristian Stellini and relieved Antonio Conte of his duties last month, leaving Ryan Mason in interim charge, the Blues are looking for a permanent replacement for Graham Potter. Tavolieri gave an update on the state of Kompany.

The Belgian journalist claims that if Stamford Bridge is unable to sign Pochettino, Kompany will be their fallback option. According to The Times, a decision about the former Spurs manager will be made soon. It is also reported that Chelsea’s London rivals had spoken with the Burnley head coach. Seven of Kompany’s employees are anticipated to travel with him, and the Belgian would have a vote in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s transfer policy. Levy is thought to be interested in his style of play.

Although it will be difficult to reject Chelsea and Tottenham, Kompany hasn’t made it clear that he wants to leave the team. Tavolieri has stated that his present goal is to help Burnley reach the 100-point mark, despite some reports suggesting otherwise. This is consistent with his earlier statements from earlier this year that he still has a lot to learn. Being only 37, Kompany might feel that he has to get more experience before moving up to one of the Premier League’s major clubs.
