Chelsea linked with RB Leipzig striker this January

RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko could be a target for Chelsea.

Chelsea are still in the market for some firepower despite the exorbitant sums they spent over the last few transfer windows.

Summer signing Nicolas Jackson has struggled to find the back of the net consecutively whereas Christopher Nkunku has been out with a knee injury for the first half of the season.

The striker market is expected to evolve in the summer window as a host of Premier League clubs are interested in that position.

Chelsea surprisingly has been linked to Benjamin Sesko who has been one of the standout players in the Bundesliga in a relatively short period.

He has bagged seven goals in all competitions so far this term but is unhappy with his limited role at RB Leipzig.

Ben Jacobs believes Sesko could be an ideal target for Mauricio Pochettino in January.

“Chelsea are still exploring strikers for January but will only move if they find the right name. The elite profile they are looking for is only expected to be available in the summer meaning patience may be needed,” Jacobs said.

“Napoli’s Victor Osimhen remains a top target for this summer. Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is another to watch and has a €50m release clause active this summer.”
