Striker shortage spurs blues into action as transfer deadline looms

Chelsea Football Club is getting ready for any last-minute transfer activity as the January window closes. Despite speculation and expectation, journalist Ben Jacobs indicated that the Blues could sign not one, but two forwards before the deadline.

Addressing fans via Simon Phillips’ Substack, Jacobs stressed Chelsea’s ongoing objective of improving their attacking options. With manager Mauricio Pochettino seeking reinforcements up front, the club’s target Chaemains clear: sign a striker.

He said: “I also wouldn’t rule out an approach for Brighton’s Evan Ferguson just yet. And I am told two forwards may arrive: one established and one younger. Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is still another possibility.”

While Victor Osimhen remains a top priority, his availability at the end of the season creates a dilemma for the Blues. Thus, the need to address the striking department has grown, especially with existing choices Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja failing to impress.

Amidst rumors of Broja’s potential departure, Chelsea’s focus remains steadfast on fortifying their attacking arsenal. Jacobs hinted at potential targets, including Brighton’s Evan Ferguson and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Ferguson, a long-term target, has showcased promise in the Premier League, but his acquisition may come at a hefty price tag of £100m. Alternatively, Sesko offers a blend of youth and potential, presenting an enticing prospect for the Blues.

As the transfer window enters its final stages, Chelsea’s pursuit of striking reinforcements intensifies. With multiple names in consideration, including established stars and rising talents, the Blues remain poised for potential late dealings in their quest for attacking prowess.
