Thomas Tuchel On Who He Wants Chelsea To Avoid In CL Draw

Thomas Tuchel does not want to face PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Chelsea got past Atletico Madrid 3-0 on aggregate, having beaten them across both legs.

It was a significant accomplishment for Tuchel since the Blues got in the competition’s final eight for the first time since 2014. Plenty of tough opponents await as Bayern Munich, Manchester City, FC Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Liverpool have gone through.

Hakim Ziyech scored the second leg opener just 10 minutes ahead of half-time. Emerson Palmieri netted the second deep into stoppage time to completely kill off Atletico Madrid’s chances of progressing to the next round. Diego Simeone’s men had no answers for Chelsea’s quick passing and aggressive pressure on them during possession.

Tuchel told French outlet RMC after Chelsea’s second-leg win over Atletico. “The draw? I am not sure that I want to come across PSG because they are strong.”

It was a commanding display from Tuchel’s men against a team who are top of the La Liga. Not only did they ask questions of Atletico but held two cleansheets across both fixtures. Chelsea’s season has run hot and cold but under Tuchel, they are yet to be beaten.
