Mauricio Pochettino insists Chalobah still has role amid uncertainty

Mauricio Pochettino assures Trevor Chalobah will be considered for selections.

There was heavy speculation in the summer window over the Chelsea defender’s future who was keen to make a switch to Bayern Munich.

He also a rejected a permanent transfer to league rivals Nottingham Forest.

Chalobah was available for sale this summer but the £50million asking price was deemed too steep for any European club.

With the inclusion of Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill in the Chelsea defensive roster, Chalobah has gone further down the pecking order and would struggle to get minutes at his boyhood club.

The Chelsea academy graduate is currently out with a hamstring injury and won’t be available for selection till early October.

But manager Mauricio Pochettino reassures Chalobah would be available for selection once he’s recovered from his injury.

“Yes, of course [Chalobah is still in his plans],” Pochettino confirmed during Friday’s press conference.

“I am Chelsea. I am the coach. His future is going to be [here]. He is in our plans. No one is going to decide for me. He is going to be involved. Now we have finished the transfer window, he is going to be involved in the decisions. Chalobah and the other players in the squad are part of my plans. Some players don’t play, but that is my choice.”
