Mauricio Pochettino has issued Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia update.

Summer arrivals Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are yet to play a competitive game for the Blues since their arrivals this summer.

Nkunku dealt a hefty blow to his knee during the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.

He is considered as one of the most exciting players to watch in Europe after bagging 16 goals in the Bundesliga last campaign with RB Leipzig.

As for Lavia, he’s nursing an ankle ligament injury which he suffered in the international break in September.

The duo are known to have made decent progress in their attempt to be available for the squad and were seen training with the first-team squad.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked if the pair would be available for their weekend clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

He said: “We need to assess tomorrow and then decide. They are close, but we need tomorrow to make a decision.

“Maybe Lavia is the more difficult [one] but we need to assess Nkunku for tomorrow – we don’t believe we can recover some players,” Pochettino added. “But there is one more training session and we can see tomorrow.”

But players like Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka still remain out of contention.
