Mason Mount could have thrived under Mauricio Pochettino

Mason Mount is closing on a move to Old Trafford.

The English midfielder has over 12 months left on his Blues contract and the Blues were demanding £60million for the prized midfielder.

Man United have agreed on a £55million deal to sign the Chelsea midfielder and the deal would be finalised in the next week.

He has undergone surgery last season and is expected to be available days before the Man United pre-season tour.

A medical is scheduled on Monday after which the deal could be finalised and made official.

Mount will become manager Erik Ten Hag’s first new signing of the summer and could make his debut in a friendly against Leeds United on July 12.

English coach Karl Robinson believes both Pochettino and Mount could have worked together at Stamford Bridge.

“I think Mauricio would have got a lot out of him (Mount)… I would have liked to have seen him work with him,” Robinson told talkSPORT.

“I think it is quite an exciting time with him going in as a manager with the quality of players Chelsea have. I think that may be a loss down the line.”
