Chelsea shortlists two possible replacements for Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea have struggled to find consistency in the Premier League.

Chelsea have shortlisted few options for Mauricio Pochettino who is on the radar of the club to sack after this season. The new ownership is not getting results.

Chelsea signed Pochettino last summer after a tough season where Chelsea missed out European qualification under Graham Potter. The former Tottenham Hotspur manager failed to deliver in the ongoing season.

Pochettino came close to winning the EFL Cup but lost to Liverpool in the final. They are still searching the silverware as they have made into the semifinals of the FA Cup.

Pochettino’s men have struggled to find consistency in the Premier League. They are sitting in ninth position ahead of the home game against Everton.

Chelsea have now picked two options Eddie Howe of Newcastle and Xavi of Barcelona. The report adds that Howe is the frontrunner to get signed at Stamford Bridge.

Howe is the manager of Newcastle since 2019 and has been terrific. He led his club to EFL Cup final last season and also finished in top-four at Premier League. They are still in the hunt for the European qualification.

Chelsea are also considering Xavi who is leaving the club in the summer. He won the La Liga and Supercopa de Espana last season. This season, his side is close to the Champions League semifinals as they beat PSG 3-2 in first-leg clash of the quarterfinal.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso, Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot are also the options for Chelsea.
