Chelsea scouts intensify focus on Benjamin Sesko amid striker search
Chelsea Football Club has stepped up its chase of RB Leipzig attacker Benjamin Sesko, with sources saying that scouts have been sent on numerous occasions to watch the young prospect in action.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old play many times this season.
He said: “There are clubs constantly monitoring Sesko since he was already at Salzburg, then he joined Leipzig and they keep following the player. There is also interest from Italy but I think it is going to be complicated for Italian clubs to pay the amount of money for Benjamin Sesko.
“For clubs in England it could be different. For example Chelsea and the same for Arsenal, they have sent their scouts multiple times to follow Sesko. Let’s see now what is going to happen with the new board of Man United. It’s a very open situation for Sesko.”
Despite Sesko’s unimpressive showing in the Champions League against Real Madrid, Chelsea remains keen on the 20-year-old’s future. Sesko scored 11 goals in all competitions this season, drawing interest from a number of major clubs, including Chelsea.
The London club’s pursuit for a prolific striker has been well publicized, and Sesko has been identified as a top target to fix their goal-scoring weaknesses.
